Did you know…that although many vitamins and minerals offer dramatic, proven health benefits, some vitamin supplements contain other ingredients that can cause severe health problems, including cancer?
If you take a popular multivitamin such as Centrum, One-a-Day or Equate, then it’s time to trade in your synthetic tablet for an organic, all-natural vitamin supplement.
Non-organic multis usually contain pesticides, chemical additives and by-products, preservatives and genetically engineered ingredients.
And if that’s not enough to deter you from synthetic vitamins, then how about the animal drug residue, pathogens, feces, hormone-disrupting chemicals, toxic sludge and slaughterhouse waste hanging out in your purportedly healthy vitamin?
Synthetic Additives to Avoid
It’s important to read those labels carefully, as the commercially available supplements you find on the shelves of your local grocery and drug stores contain sneaky ingredients that are actually synthetic imposters.
Your body cannot absorb these toxic poisons, and disease and chronic health conditions, including osteoporosis, arthritis, cancer and Alzheimer’s, gradually develop.
The multivitamin that is supposed to be strengthening your immune system and protecting you from illness is actually damaging your health with toxic ingredients like talc, dyes, sodium benzoate, methylcellulose, carnauba wax, silicon and titanium dioxide.
Many vitamins, particularly chewable tablets, contain sweeteners such as aspartame, known to cause Irritable Bowel Syndrome and fibromyalgia. Other harmful additives include acesulfame potassium, sucralose, and sorbitol, all of which have been shown to mutate cells and DNA, thereby increasing your risk for cancer.
And chances are your multivitamin is packaged in a gelatin capsule, a dangerous casement, as gelatin is typically composed of the cartilage, skin, connective tissue and bones of sick animals.
Steer Clear of the Following Synthetic Vitamins:
Synthetic Vitamin B12:
Your heart, red blood cells, and digestive and nervous systems depend on a sufficient intake of vitamin B12, an essential nutrient necessary for various metabolic functions. Synthetic vitamin B12, however, does more harm than good.
Scientifically known as cyanocobalamin, synthetic B12 is manufactured from pulverized cow liver and activated sewage sludge. Steroids, antibiotics and pesticides ingested from genetically modified feed have compromised cow livers. Even the living conditions of cattle have a negative impact on our health, as cows typically spend their entire lives in CAFO’s (confined animal feeding operations) where they slowly die, often lying in their own fecal matter.
Synthetic Vitamin A:
A 2002 Harvard study found that more than 72,000 nurses who had been supplementing with synthetic vitamin A had a 48% greater chance of suffering from a hip fracture. Another study found that subjects who took a synthetic vitamin A tablet had an 8% higher risk for heart attack, stroke or lung cancer, than did subjects who consumed a placebo pill.
Synthetic vitamin A is made up of contaminated fish liver juices, brimming with poisonous polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)—man-made chemicals best to avoid—and mercury.
Synthetic Vitamin E:
The Journal of the National Cancer Institute warns against taking synthetic vitamins, explaining, “taking too many may increase men’s risk of dying from prostate cancer.” A study of 300,000 men showed that those who took synthetic multivitamins had double the risk of developing fatal prostate cancer.
Synthetic vitamin E, which is often extracted from genetically modified foods (GMOs), stands out as a primary agent in prostate cancer development. Unfortunately, the United States does not require pharmaceutical companies to label supplements that have been tainted by GMOs.
Synthetic Vitamin C:
Synthetic vitamin C may mimic its natural counterpart—absorbic acid—but the harmful acid blends it contains wreak havoc on the lining of the digestive tract.
Reuters Health published a study that indicates that 500 mg of synthetic vitamin C taken daily over an 18-month period causes atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. Organic, whole-food vitamin C, however, prevents cardiovascular disease and keeps its precursors at bay.
You may be wondering: If synthetic vitamins are so bad for you, then why are companies making them?
The large pharmaceutical and chemical companies—the very same ones that developed chemotherapy technology—have a lot to gain from profits accrued from synthetic vitamin products. New Jersey-based drug manufacturing giant, Hoffman LaRoche owns more than 90% of the fake vitamin C supplement market.
Kissing Synthetic Vitamins Goodbye
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “synthetic” as artificially produced. Why supplement with artificial, when you can enhance your health with natural. In order to avoid being “faked-out” by unhealthy supplements, read labels carefully and purchase organic, raw-food based supplements, such as Raw One for Women or Men, a natural multivitamin made without synthetic binders or fillers.
It is safest to purchase vitamins from natural health food stores such as Whole Foods, or reputable online dealers that don’t hide synthetic additives behind the guise of “other ingredients.”
Say goodbye to synthetics and hello to all natural, once and for all.
